Fab labs give kids the opportunity to expand their knowledge and way of thinking by allowing them to be more innovative and hands-on.
Ikites wants to spread these fablabs in the east coast, where they lack popularity
The fab lab works to provide a new perspective on education and embrace new thinking, and creativity
We plan on starting lessons on STEAM and leadership at the Hillsborough library to help create the next generation of thinkers. Expanding to the library will allow many more students to join and will allow us to make a larger impact. We also plan on spreading to other libraries in Somerset county.
Real-World Financial Literacy
Inspired by the book by Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter. We strive to teach the youth the difference between working for money and making money work for you. We also plan to immerse in the world of entrepreneurship and financial freedom by teaching them the concepts of assets, liabilities, cash flow, and what it takes to own and run a business.
Foreign Language Interaction
The average child spends 5-6 years learning a foreign language in school, yet many are not able to fluently speak or understand it. This is due to the lack of daily usage with native speakers. We want to introduce a two-way system where the kids have the ability to spend a couple of hours a week with a native speaker online.
